On August 19, 2016, John W. Palmer was walking along a nature trail when he was suddenly shot in the back. He was one of the six known victims of serial killer Fredrick Scott, who in high school threatened to "shoot the school up, Columbine-style" and said he wanted to "kill all white people." John left behind a daughter, a son, and two grandchildren.
